Great! Here is our

Staff Application Process

Introductions

We’ll likely start with some exchanged emails and casual conversations. We’d like you to have a good picture of See Beyond’s vision, mission, and values before launching into the more practical, logistical aspects of the application process. We’ll point you to this page so you can see the overall process and begin answering any FAQ’s you may have. We look forward to getting to know you a bit in the process as well.

Apply

We’ll send you a link to our online application and ask you to fill it out, as well as send us your resume/CV. Currently, our applications aren’t able to be saved and completed later. You may want to look it over, gather, or even write out responses elsewhere so you are ready to fill out the application and submit it in one sitting online. You can see the standard job application here. The counselor/therapist application can be seen by clicking here.

Estimated Time: 1 week to gather references/information and fill out the application.

References

Once we receive your application, we’ll send out online reference forms. (You can see these through the link on your own application.) We ask for 5-7 references, depending on what you are applying to do. We ask references who else we should contact and follow up with these secondary references, as well as have discussions with people we know who have contact with you. We take references very seriously and depend on their honest feedback to help us get high-quality staff that are a good fit with our organization’s culture and vision.

Estimated Time: 2-4 weeks, depending on your references’ and secondary references’ response times.

Interviews

After reviewing your references and application, we’ll set up one or more interviews. We send you questions in advance, but they act as a general guide. This it a time for us to understand you better and for you to have more time to ask about what we do, who we are, and how things work. We want to have a good fit in both directions with our staff.

Estimated Time: 1-2 weeks to set a date and have the interview. An additional 1-2 weeks for second interviews—most common for counseling or full-time applicants.

Work Sample

We’ll give you a small task so you can demonstrate the type of work you might do for us. It will fit the job you are applying for. So those applying to be service providers may do a sample coaching or debriefing. Those applying to be writers may do a sample writing project for See Beyond. This little job is to get an idea of your style, what you take into account as you consider what to do. It's not about judging the detail or preciseness (unless your going to work on our finances!), but to get to know how you function in this realm better.

Background

Check

All See Beyond staff undergo a background check if available in their country. We will contact you with the necessary consent and authorization forms. If unavailable or notoriously unreliable in your home country, and when appropriate, we will dig deeper into primary and secondary references to help ensure the safety of our clients. We take even more extensive looks into the habits and character of any See Beyond staff who are working with children.

Estimated Time: 2-4 weeks. US citizens can expect 1-2 weeks. Other countries can expect 3-4 weeks.

Child Protection Training

All See Beyond staff take a minimum level of child protection training and are required to pass an exam. Staff members who work with children must take a more extensive training. These are designed to help our whole staff better aid our communities in protecting children. We will accept training certificates from other reputable training organizations that took place in the previous 2 years. See Beyond acceptance letter will come after we get the test results from the post-training exam.

Estimated Time: For those who will be working with children, the training and test take approximately 2.5 hours. For all others, expect to spend 1.5 hours.

Decision

We will let you know our decision in writing. Those who continue on to our onboarding process will receive job descriptions (position focus sheets) and a simple contract. There may be some required reading. We’ll also go over our policies, get direct service providers set up with an internal email, set up a system to appropriately pay you, and introduce you to the rest of the SB staff team.

Estimated Time: Typically we do not do background checks or have you do child protection training if we are not already fairly sure we want to accept you as staff. So, it’s only a matter of seeing your child protection test results and sending you an acceptance letter. This should be less than a week.

Notes: It’s important to note that all See Beyond “staff” are actually independent contractors and not employees. We pay funds in U.S. dollars to U.S. or other convertible (intl.) currency bank accounts.
