How our online learning works

First, you'll need to download Zoom onto your computer. You can do this in advance at zoom.us. Choose "Sign Up Free" in the upper right-hand corner and follow the instructions.

On the day of the event, open your Zoom account. Then, go to the email that was sent to you (normally, the day before), and click on the provided link.

Watch the video below for a better idea of how to join a meeting:

You'll have an option to join with your video on or off. We suggest that you choose “on,” so that you don't have to try to figure that out later. We also suggest that you use a computer and not a phone or tablet. This will make the instructions you hear from your facilitator much clearer.

When you are on Zoom, you can put your curser over the Zoom screen. A navigation bar will appear at the bottom.

You can mute yourself and turn your video on and off at the bottom left.

If you join the call 5-10 minutes early, the facilitator will help you navigate how to use Zoom.

You'll see everyone on the call, and they will see you. Typically, you'll have yourself muted. If you want to speak, you need to “un-mute” yourself by clicking on the microphone icon so that it has no red slash over it.

At some point during the call, you may join one or more other participants in a virtual breakout room to practice a skill or have a discussion. Your facilitator will describe what you need to do during the call.

Hope that helps! So glad you are considering joining us for one of our online events!
